ADULT EDUCATION

The Adult & Community Education program offers classes to adults of any age who are interested in learning new hobbies and skills. There are a wide range of classes offered which highlight the knowledge and talents of our very own community members.

Winter 2023-2024 Classes:


Class #1: Kumihimo Jewelry Making

Instructor: Tali Snedigar

Class runs through: March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th & April 3rd,10th

Time: 5-7pm

Location: SGHS Library

Class Description: Learn how to make braided/beaded jewelry. We will be making a necklace, earrings & bracelet set. Bring a large pendant if you have one you’d like to use. Class will be $20 for supplies.


Class #2: Chicken Burrito Casserole

Instructor: Khrystal Wagner

Date: March 18th March 24th

Time: 6-8 pm 2-5pm

Location: SGHS FCS Room

Class Description: Let's make dinner together!  Creamy chicken burrito casserole is always a winner. It's easy to put together and makes a good freezer meal option, too.

Limited to 6 people Class will be $25 for supplies.

Class #3:  Chinese Appetizers:

Instructor:  Tom Sharp

Date:  Saturday April 6th 

Times: 10:00am - 2:00PM

Location:  21 Spring Dr. Big Timber, MT 

Class Description: Join us for a few hours and learn how to cook some tasty Chinese Food.  We will make a couple of set dishes and a couple based on a dish you would like to learn about.  Low Mein or Chow Mein, what is your favorite?  Shanghai Chicken, a sweet and spicy dish and Dry Fried String Beans, a dish that will make the pickiest of eaters love green beans.  We will add 2 dishes depending on the desire of the class. Class will cost $15 for supplies.


Class #4: Ruza

Instructor: April Jacobsen

Date: April 7th

Time: 2-5 pm

Location: SGHS FCS Room

Class Description: A runza (the dish) falls somewhere between a hot pocket and burger when it comes to the culinary spectrum; it's ground beef, onions, and cabbage all wrapped in yeast dough that's then baked. What you get is a savory pastry that's ideal for a party or any other meals on the go. Limited to 6 people. Class will be $20 for supplies.


Class #5: Ceramics Class

Instructor: Salena Spees

Class runs through: March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th 

Time: 6-9pm

Location: SGHS Art Room

Class Description: Adult students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel, sculpture, and slab. During this time participants can throw bowls, mugs, create platters and let their creative side unleash. No worries if you have no experience, all are welcome! Limited to 8 people. Class will be $20 $70 for supplies.


Class #6: In’s & Out’s of Homebuying

Instructor: Kristy Cowell

Dates: March 26th & April 13th

Time: 6pm on the 26th and 10am on the 13th

Location: Sky Federal Credit Union

Class Description: Learn steps from start to finish of buying a home and important aspects that will help you make smart decisions. No Charge for this class

Class #7: Pizza Night

Instructor: Khrystal Wagner

Date: April 29th April 28th

Time: 6-8 pm 2-5pm

Location: SGHS FCS Room

Class Description: We will put together a supreme pizza with a no-knead homemade dough. 

Limited to 6 people Class will be $25 for supplies.


Class #8: Beginning Quilting

Instructor: Kary Engle

Dates: Thursdays starting March 7th - May 9th

Time: 6-8pm

Location: SGHS FCS Room

Class Description: Learn basics of quilting. Will make a small quilt that will teach you the basics of sewing beautiful projects. Limited to 8 people. Class will be $70 for supplies.


Class #9: Beginner Chair Fitness

Instructor: Jackie Emter

Class run through: Mondays starting March 4th - April 1st

Time: 4:15 - 5pm

Location: Multi purpose room @ Grey Cliff school

Class Description: Confidence Building, body weight exercises in a chair. No charge for this class.

Class #10: PiYo

Instructor: Jackie Emter

Class run through: Wednesdays starting March 6th - April 3rd

Time: 4:15 - 5pm

Location: Multi purpose room @ Grey Cliff school

Class Description: Learning pilates moves, yoga inspired stretches, using a mat. No charge for this class.


Class #11: Beginner Chair Fitness

Instructor: Jackie Emter

Class run through: Mondays starting March 4th - April 1st

Time: 6-7

Location: Weight room @ SGHS 

Class Description: Confidence Building, body weight exercises in a chair. No charge for this class.


Class #12: Beginner to Intermediate Chair Fitness

Instructor: Jackie Emter

Class run through: Wednesdays starting March 6th - April 3rd

Time: 6-7

Location: Weight room @ SGHS 

Class Description: Confidence Building, body weight exercises in a chair with adding some weights. No charge for this class.


Class #13: Solar Power

Instructor: Sam Spector

Dates: March 5-7th

Time: 6-7:30pm

Location: Cafeteria @ SGHS 

Class Description: Learn about solar power, how it is made, sizing an array for your home or business, estimate pay back periods, evaluate cost/Benefits, understand net metering, choose a contractor, permitting requirements & more.. No charge for this class.
