Horatio Alger Montana Undergraduate Scholarship

Applicants must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at ta Montana State University system school. Demonstrate critical financial need, minimum GPA of 2.0 and involved in co-curricular and community service.

Montana State Golf Association Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has been involved with golf. See Mrs. Todd for a scholarship application.

Eligibility 

  1. -MSGA Handicap Index (aka MSGA Membership)
  2. -Entering their freshman year of college and be a resident of Montana
  3. -Submit an official copy of their High School Transcript, a recent photo and a completed application

Triangle Communications $1,000 Scholarships

Triangle Communications is proud to support our area youth by providing up to 37 high school and 3 college scholarship opportunities. 

To be eligible, applicant must be a subscriber or a dependent of a subscriber who receives landline telephone, broadband or mobile telephone service from us. Eligible applicants must be pursuing their first degree or certificate and must not have been a recipient of a Triangle scholarship in the past.   Due Date: April 1, 2019

Crazy Mountain Farmer Stockgrowers Association Scholarship

The Crazy Mountain Stockgrowers Association is working to preserve our agricultural way of life.  In that, they strongly support youth and education that will continue to grow future leaders in the ranching community.  The Crazy Mountain Stockgrowers will offer up to $5,000 in college scholarships to Sweet Grass County students this year.  Applicants may be 2019 SGHS graduates, or past graduates currently enrolled in college.  This money may be distributed up to three individuals, or awarded to one or two very worth candidates.

One $1,500 scholarships will be awarded by the Montana Farm Bureau.  The applications for the Bernard Greufe Scholarship should be mailed to the Montana Farm Bureau Foundation in Bozeman.

Masonic Doric Lodge Scholarship

The Doric Lodge will offer SIX scholarships to Sweet Grass County Students in 2019. THREE $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to 2019 SGHS graduating seniors, and THREE $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to past SGHS graduates currently enrolled in college. Awards are limited to undergraduate study in any accredited public university, junior college or technical school.  A copy of the Student Aid Report provided by the U.S. Department of Education is required.

Sweet Grass Farm Bureau

Sweet Grass Farm Bureau: One $1,000 scholarship may be awarded to a graduating senior and must be used in the coming academic year. Applicant or your parent or legal guardian must be a current Farm Bureau Federation member. Applications are encouraged to complete the Montana Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship as well. Submit completed applications to Sweet Grass County Mountain West Mutual Farm Bureau Insurance office.

Margaret Jo & Sigurd T. Lavold Jr. Memorial Scholarship

A  scholarship will be awarded to a student with a rural background, preferably living on a ranch, with a G.P.A. of at least 2.75.  Must show some indication of need.

Sibanye Stillwater Mine Community Scholarship

Sibanye Stillwater Mining Company’s Community Scholarship Program is available to graduating high school students that are not dependents of employees and are planning to continue their education or training.   Scholarships of $1,000 will be given to a student(s) with a 3.5 GPA.  Applicants attending a Montana university or college will be given preference. Applications are in the counseling office.

Civics Scholarship

The three law firms in Big Timber (Dringman, Josephson, and Lippert Law Firms) are offering one $1,500 scholarship. Available to SGHS high school seniors, SGHS graduates enrolled in college, and SGHS graduates enrolled in graduate school or professional programs. Student must have a minimum of 3.4 GPA, demonstrate civic engagement, and majoring in the fields of social sciences or humanities including, but not limited to: sociology, psychology, economics, political science, law, criminal justice, languages, journalism and education.

One $1,000 scholarship and one $500 scholarship for any male or female graduating from or previously graduated from SGHS. The applicants must be planning to further their education with an end goal of working in the agricultural field.

The Big Timber FFA Alumni is providing scholarships to deserving high school graduating seniors who are Big Timber FFA members interested in or intending to pursue post-high school course of study at either college/university or other post-secondary education institutions.  Applicant must be a Big Timber FFA member; must be a graduating high school senior; must demonstrate leadership growth & potential as well as community involvement within the FFA Chapter and the community at large.

Karl M. Johnson Scholarship

One or more scholarships of $500 to $1,000 may be awarded to members of the senior class of SGHS planning to continue their education at a college or vocational/technical school.  Applicants must have attended the Melville School a minimum of three years and must have maintained not less than a “B” average during high school. (If you attended Melville School at any time, please consider applying for this scholarship.)

Republic Services Scholarship

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to a member of the graduating seniors of Sweet Grass County High School who has demonstrated potential for success in post-secondary education and has been accepted to a 4-year college or university or a 2-year vocational/technical school. The scholarship is open to all students, but those pursuing education in environmental sciences, engineering or vocational training such as welding, mechanics and driving may receive preference in the selection process.

Stillwater Mining Company’s Dependent Children of Stillwater Mining Company is available to graduating high school students who are dependents of employees and are planning to continue their education or training.   Scholarships of $500 will be given to a student(s) with a 2.0 gpa and are renewable each semester.

Hearts & Hands – Pioneer Medical Center Scholarship

Hearts & Hands Hospice and Pioneer Medical Center are pleased to announce plans to present two $750 scholarships. One awarded to a student planning to enter the health-care field and one to an individual already attending college and majoring in a healthcare field. Must have an overall 2.5 GPA, based on a 4.0 Scale. Must be a graduating high school senior or a student currently enrolled in a junior college, 4 year college or university; Must have demonstrated scholarship, leadership, and outstanding performance.
