In this course, students explore geometry using Geometer's Sketchpad, TI-92, and real world situations. Using inductive reasoning, students make conjectures based on their explorations, which they later prove deductively. Topics covered include: basic geometric terminology, area, volume, trigonometry, properties of circles, triangles, polygons, geometric solids, deductive proofs (very little emphasis ), and transformational geometry. An attempt is made to relate the geometric principles to real world contexts.
*First semester credit in Geometry must be earned before continuing second semester.
*Algebra I (1 year) or equivalent course work with consent of the instructor. Successful completion of first semester is a prerequisite to second semester.
