Course Description:

Although this class is an English course, the literature and discussions are often historical in nature. Native American culture will be examined through literature and research projects. We question what is the “frontier”? As well as examining the “myth of the West”. Fools Crow, Indian Country, This House of Sky, short stories from The Last Best Place, excerpts from The Journals of Lewis & Clark, and an independent MT Author project constitute much of the reading. Writing (journals, essay, and formal papers), hands-on projects, and tests occur frequently. Homework scores, quizzes, and/or note checks happen daily. Grammar and vocabulary will a part of the learning process and incorporated into all writing assignments and projects. ☺
