Course Description:

Students will learn various processes of brainstorming in order to compose various genres of creative writing. Students will also read various examples of creative writing in novels, memoirs, poetry, and short stories. In addition, students will write poetry, short stories, personal memoirs, children’s literature, and a multi-genre project, which will consist of conducting preliminary research on an approved topic. 

Within their creative writing, students will use imagery to enhance the effectiveness and develop a personal, individual style with a natural voice. Students will use appropriate language and style for a specific audience and purpose. Students will choose words effectively, learn to workshop with peers, and learn to edit one’s own papers. Students will also learn to vary sentence structure and style.
