Course Description:

This course follows the westward movement in America from early explorers and mountain men to farm and ranch settlement with emphasis on the impact of native populations. This class also covers western pioneer settlement (mining towns, cow towns, outlaws and lawmen), resource discovery and exploitation, Montana as a western state and various government policies associated with the west.
