Course Description:

Prerequisites: Early Childhood and Parenting is encouraged, but not required.

Students will gain the knowledge and skills in financial literacy in order to make informed decisions as they assume adult roles and responsibilities. Learn how to be on their own, live in an apartment or dorm. Management, decision-making, coping with stress and conflict resolution skills will be developed during units focusing on citizenship, finding a job, budgeting, dating, relationships, and communication skills, insurance, credit and crisis. Demonstrate skills in grocery shopping, meals on a budget, apartment and dorm cooking will be explored. Other topics include travel, costs of moving, basic sewing skills (create a travel bag), clothing care and repair.
